Good News Bad News

It's time to get caught up on the news.
February may be the shortest month, but it's also one of our busiest. there's so much going on we thought we would break it down into Good News Bad News. And we'll give you the Bad News first, however, spoiler alert God is GOOD and there's way more Good News than Bad.
The BAD NEWS: After 7 years, our Operations and Events Director, Veronica Trudel is moving on. While we are sad to see her go, we are excited to see where the Lord leads her as she prepares to expand her work into bringing hope and healing to sex trafficked survivors here in Connecticut. The GOOD NEWS: We are happy to introduce two new members to our team, Erika Kapustinski and Pieter Nijssen. Erika is our new Events and Outreach Coordinator, and will be the contact person for our tabling events, as well as our fun and fundraising events. Erika will be sharing her personal story of abortion, healing and forgiveness at our Ladies' Tea and Silent Auction on March 21st. Pieter is our Development Director and will be helping us keep in touch with churches, local organizations and donors about our ministry and needs. The BAD NEWS: Our lawsuit against the city of Hartford is still ongoing. We are still in the discovery phase, which means we are collecting information and deposing witnesses in regards to the city's ordinance targeting faith-based pregnancy centers like us. The GOOD NEWS: Alliance Defending Freedom is doing a fantastic job representing us, and even as we are challenging our right to help women with life-affirming support, we are still actively seeing clients in Hartford, as well as other cities like New Haven, Waterbury and Manchester. The BAD NEWS: The Connecticut legislative session for 2020 is underway, and sad to say, the Public Health Committee has decided to consider once again, another bill targeting the work of faith-based pregnancy centers . Despite our best efforts to educate the Committee on the good and honest work we have been doing in Connecticut for over 35 years, they are content to move forward. The current Bill SB144 can be viewed in their website, and we will be reaching out with more information regarding a public hearing, testimonies and letters as this progresses. The GOOD NEWS: This bill hasn't passed yet and our prayers and efforts have protected faith-based pregnancy centers over the past three years. Keep praying and start preparing testimonies against such a bill. MORE GOOD NEWS: We are currently looking to fill our Client Services Director position at The Women's Center of EC in Willimantic. If you or someone you know is looking for fulfilling work bringing hope, help and healing to woman, go to our website to learn more and apply.
